Their defenses are unremarkable as they lack Arrowslits and Bombard Towers. Their navy and Monks are reliable in the early game, but missing some essential technologies in the late game makes them mediocre. Therefore, they only have Hand Cannoneers and Chakram Throwers as viable foot soldiers in the late game. Their archers are average at best, lacking Ring Archer Armor and Arbalesters, making their archer units vulnerable against ranged units. Their foot units are very lacking, as they have one of the weakest Barracks, with no Champions, Squires, and not even Pikemen. Lacking Siege Engineers limits the viability of Onagers and Heavy Scorpions though. Their siege weapons are slightly above average, as their Siege Elephants are the fastest at tearing down buildings, and they also have access to Bombard Cannons. The Imperial Age unique technology gives more durability to their Elephant Archers and Camel Riders, which are also created faster due to their team bonus. The Castle Age unique technology is one of the best economic-military effects in the game, since it reduces the food cost of all military units by 25%, which in isolation means +33.3% food. They can train the Shrivamsha Rider at the stable which is a fast cavalry with the ability to dodge ranged attacks, which not only helps against archer units but also siege units. They lack Blast Furnace, but their mounted units do more bonus damage due to their civilization bonus. Both unique technologies, the team bonus, and one civilization bonus are geared to encourage Gurjaras to train mounted units. Team bonus Camel and elephant units are created 25% faster.
